Sunyard was founded in 1996. In 2000, it was restructured to become Hangzhou Sunyard System Engineering Co., Ltd. As a hi-tech company specializing in document imaging management, e-commerce and data security software development, it is one of the Backbone Enterprises of China Torch Program and it is ranked among top 10 software companies in Zhejiang Province. With its products widely used in financial, securities, and insurance fields in China, the company has become a nationwide renowned developer and supplier of financial and securities software.

So far, through its core technological competence, Sunyard has received two national patents, three National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. Two of its products are recognized by the nation as new key products. Sunyard has also taken on four projects from the China Torch Plan, including document imaging system, call center system, business e-Banking system, and payment encryption system. Sunyard has over 20 series of products, providing complete IT solutions for clients in banking, securities, insurance, industrial & commerce, taxation sectors and government agencies. Over the last few years, Sunyard has made impressive progress in the R&D of imaging processing and CTI (Computer and Telephone Integration) technology - Its Automated Processing System for Financial Bills has been listed as one of China 863 Program projects. Its Payment Encryption System has been certified by the State Encryption Regulatory Committee, one of the only four in China.

Currently, Sunyard has passed the certification of ISO9002 and ISO9001 quality systems and the certification of CMM3 (Capability Maturity Model). Its financial and securities software products have been widely used in more than 400 banks, 700 securities companies and in other sectors such as insurance, taxation and land management. Sunyard's bank clients include China Industrial & Commerce Bank, China Bank of Agriculture, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Construction Bank, CITIC Industrial Bank, Pudong Development Bank, Fujian Industrial Bank, People's Bank of China etc.
